Twitter GIF, MP4 and MP3: which file do you need?
Updated October 15, 2026
A post labelled GIF can be delivered by X as a looping MP4. MP4 is a video container; GIF is an image animation format; MP3 is audio. Renaming video.mp4 to video.gif or video.mp3 does not perform a conversion.
Keep MP4 when you want an efficient video file. Use a trusted editor to export a genuine GIF when an application requires one. Extract audio only when the source includes audio and you have permission. GetMyTweet currently returns MP4 sources and does not present unconverted files as GIF or MP3.
